Scope:

The creation of new materials with new functions is an important factor for the sustainable development of society. Ion beams give variety functions to materials by selecting the ion species and energy, then they can easily create new functional materials or new structures with different functions in the materials. Ion beams are also important tools for the analysis and characterization of these materials and new analysis and characterization techniques using ion beams are being developed. On the other hand, since the interaction between ions and materials is a complex process therefore it makes many unknown phenomena. These phenomena have been analyzed by machine learning and AI methods, and new ion beam applications in material science are developed with the new knowledge based on these results. The scope of this symposium is the latest innovative research results related to ion beams, including not only material creation, function creation, analysis, and characterization, but also the basic science and newly derived applied technology that support these fields using ion beams. The purpose of this symposium is to create a forum for collaborative discussions that will lead to further advances in materials innovation through cross-disciplinary and industry-academia collaboration.

Topics:

1. Fundamentals of ion-material interaction
2. Ion beam modification and application for polymers, biomaterials, semiconductors, quantum materials, etc.
3. Cluster ions, swift heavy ions, highly charged ions, etc.
4. Ion beam analysis, evaluation, and data science
5. Other ion beam and plasma applications, etc.
