Scope:
Recently, much attention has been focused on Electroactive polymers(EAPs). The EAPs can directly transform electrically energy into mechanical work, They can also operate in reverse mode, transducing electrical energy from mechanical work. Therefore, the EAPs can be used as soft actuators and sensors as well as energy harvestors. The researchs of the EAPs are now under progress for applications that have not yet been achieved so far with conventional technologies, including haptics, optics, microfluidics, biomimetic robots, biomedical applications, aritifical muscles, etc., since they have many advantages as compared to conventional devices and materials, such as soft, light, high energy and power density, easy to mold, etc. This symposium will cover recent progress of research and developemt on materials, devices, control methods and applications of electroactive polymer actuators, sensors and energy harvestors. Some EAPs can transduce mechanical work from various energy, such as heat, light, chemical, magnetic, electromagnetic, etc. This symposium will cover recent progress of the researches on such materials and devices. Researches of bio-systems and bio-mimetics for new mechanical energy transfer sysytem are also welcome.
