Scope:

Spintronics garners much attention in recent two decades, and a number of practical applications has been realized. Furthermore, a novel functional device by utilizing a spin degree of freedom is proposed and intensively studied. For further progress on spintronics, it is emphasized that materials research in spintronics is storngly demanded. Actually, the field of spintronics has been targeting inorganic and organic semiconductors, in addition to metallic materials. Thus, this session focuses on various materials for spintronics from viewpoints of spin injection, spin manipulation, spin transport and so on. The target materials, which will be discussed in this session, would be metals, inorganic semiconductors (such as GaAs, Si...), organic semiconductors (Graphene, Carbon nanotubes...)and insulators (YIG, topological insulators...).

Topics:

  • Spin injection
  • Spin manipulation
  • Spin transport
  • Spin current
  • Novel spin-related phenomena (Inverse Spin Hall Effects and so on)
  • Functional spin devices and spin logics.
