Memorial Symposium for the Late Prof. Masao Doyama

Purpose of the Meeting

Prof. Masao Doyama, co-founder and Honorary Advisor of the MRS-Japan, passed away on January 2nd this year at the age of 96. Prof. Doyama made outstanding contributions in the field of lattice defects and had a profound impact on students, colleagues, and the research community. His achievements went beyond research outcomes, extending to the guidance of younger researchers and promoting international academic exchange. In memory of Prof. Doyama’s passing, we will hold a memorial symposium.

In this symposium, we will trace Prof. Doyama’s research legacy and delve into his achievements from various perspectives, creating an opportunity to re-evaluate his contributions and philosophy, and to carry forward his vision. We hope this will be an occasion for all participants to share memories of Prof. Doyama and to carry his teachings into the future.
